I think it's impossible to classify countries in that way. The more I learn about international relations, the less I feel that they're anything to do with good and bad, and the more I feel that they're inextricably linked to pure self-interest on the parts of the politicians. *sigh*

But yes, I think that many Americans aspire to the right thing, it's just a shame that so many have little or no clue about the world beyond their borders (county borders sometimes!), and that they keep throwing the dross to the top of the pile.

but the folks running the show right now are working hard to make us
look like Snidely Whiplash, using 9/11 as an excuse for all manner of
things that sound, to me at least, downright un-American.

Question: does the situation with Bush's bizarre lack of vetos and excessive use of signing statements make any of the Merkins onlist nervous?
