Interesting. I mean... okay, yes, Jews are a people as well as a 
religion, and this does colour our stance strongly on this. But if 
you're a Jew, you're a Jew. You can be non-practicing, you can be 
anything on a vast scale of religious practices and remain a Jew.

Certain practices, which are considered especially contrary to Jewish 
doctine, such as the Jews for Jesus or Karaites, are not welcome to 
enter a Synagogue while they espouse those views, but they remain 
Jews* and the day they renounce them, they can return.

(*British Reform Judaism holds a view countrary to this and is one of 
the the two reasons for my dislike for the organisation)

Also, I don't believe there's such a thing as a non-practicing Muslim 
by definition, either you practice or you're not..
