This is an e-mail exchange with a colleague of mine who also works for
an airline that transports american military.
this is the link she sent me;

James was one of the very first casualties of this war, Rebecca. He
came from a small town in Texas where people are loyal to Bush and
still believe the lies perpetuated by the neo-cons that Saddam had WMD,
was behind 9/11, and supported Al Qaeda.
This link also mentions that this soldier specifically requested he NOT
be buried in a military cemetery. I am deeply saddened by the loss of
his life, and everyone who is suffering from this war. Some of these
troops are on their 4th tour. I hope we can bring our troops home as
soon as possible, so no more are lost.
I wonder how many people are left who still believe this war was a wise
decision... Far more people have died and been maimed than were killed
in 9/11. Because of this war Al Qaeda has become more powerful, the
Taliban is still not defeated and bin Laden is still alive.
Jon
I don't believe there are many left who believe the war was a good
decision. However, coming from a small town far deep in the Midwest I
know that there are many great Americans who still stand beside the
soldiers, like in this small town. I wish every soldier killed in this
war could get a proper burial.
That is why this email should stay in circulation. We need to keep our
soldiers in mind. Many of our soldiers believe they are fighting for
our freedom . Whatever the reason they are fighting, we know how great
it is to be an American. We need to show the utmost respect to every
soldier. This burial should be common practice!!!
Rebecca
Rebecca, I can remember how gung ho these guys were when we first
starting taking them over to Kuwait. Now some of these same guys are
going back for their 4th tour, some of them are in their late fifties
and older. The morale over there is shot to hell; no pun intended.
The problem with these patriotic e-mails is they pander to the false
hysteria of nationalism that stir people up,. They confuse supporting
the war with supporting the troops. The way to support our troops is
to bring them home, immediately!
During the Vietnam war the returning soldiers were spat upon and
treated with contempt. That is NOT the case here. Everyone supports
the troops, EXCEPT out government. Our warriors need better helmets,
body armor and equipment that can protect them from ambush and IEDS.
The families of the dead and injured are existing on minimal pensions
and need more than a military burial, or token rehab at Walter Reed.
These soldiers are not fighting for our freedom. They are fighting for
a bunch of muslims who hate us, and each other. Terrorism is getting
worse the longer we stay in Iraq. The ones who know how to make bombs
that work are mostly in Iraq, but Al Qaeda is recruiting all over the
world, now, except in America. Most of the muslims in America want in
on our affluent lifestyle and are not going to do anything that would
get them deported, or worse.
At the beginning of this war there was a larger proportion of minority
casualties. Minorities have stopped enlisting for a war they know is a
waste, so now more whites are dying. Still it's mostly poor white
people who are fighting and dying, or ending up maimed for life, not
the wealthy. You don't see many of their children signing up. Many
are working for Halliburton and other war profiteers. I'm still
waiting to see the Bush twins enlist.
