I apologize if this is something that's been posted before (the 
article is over a year old) but I saw this on a forum I frequent
and thought it might be of interest:

It's about a group of scientists in Russia who have been experimenting
over the past 50 years with domestication and how it might be possible
through selective breeding in a short time rather than a long one.
They're also attempting to establish whether or not there are
certain genes that more readily allow domestication than others.  I
found it fascinating, especially the sheer scope of it.

I'm sure some of you were probably already aware of this experiment,
but for the rest of us I thought it might be an interesting read.
