It is often still worth informing your Senator/House Rep of issues
that are important to you as a constituent, because if you don't tell
them, they're likely not to know, or in some cases, have any reason to
be aware of or research those issues. It's possible they've already
developed a position on such issues, but it's also possible they
haven't been made aware of them and your email/letter/call might
actually trigger action on the subject that wouldn't have taken place
otherwise. At the very least, it will be noted in the reports that
are (hopefully) sent up to the Rep for review -- with rare exceptions,
they tend to hire good staff and the office staff handle such
information pretty well. My gripe with my own Rep is more that he and
I strongly disagree on just about anything related to federal law with
the possible exception of the 2nd Amendment, so writing him does
little good. But I still write him now and then.

You're not the first person I've heard say that, and whenever I hear
it, I immediately think of the US Taxpayers Party, a scary bunch of
people if ever there was one, which recently changed its name to the
Constitution Party, slightly less scary but only just. Neither is
what their name suggests, at all.
