And as far as initiative and referendum are concerned, things like this convince me that while they sound like good ideas, they're all too often poster children for the law of unintended consequences. Because if anybody can put an initiative on the ballot .. **anybody** can put an initiative on the ballot, however ill thought out. (How many California initiative propositions have resulted in unconstitutional California state laws now?
