You know, that's some very good content. Thanks for passing it along -- but I was being a little wry, and the thing is that this particular kid is doing pretty well for himself, at least so far. He's bright, funny, sweet and rather level-headed; if I could choose a son for myself, it would be him or a near copy. He's done pretty well at avoiding the obvious problems, and seems to be navigating the hormonal years with quite a lot of success overall.
So my three things were meant to be a bit upscale in maturity, sort of man-to-mannish but also ironic, and they wouldn't probably work with a lot of seventeen-year-olds. But for him I think they're just about right.
