Here is a suggestion for British ultimate tournaments,
based on the way things work in America.
SPLIT THE YEAR INTO TWO OUTDOOR SEASONS
=======================================
Spring Season
-------------
In this season there would be GEO-TOURS.
Each geo-tour tournament would be
(1) not very far to travel;
(2) not a super-huge tournament,
because it would only be
hosting one quarter of
the UK teams.
The spring season would also contain
the STUDENT-ONLY tournaments, and, maybe,
the NATIONAL COED TOUR.
Summer Season
-------------
In this season, there would be a NATIONAL TOUR.
The teams entering the national tour would not
necessarily be similar to the teams in the
geo-tours. For example, perhaps some of the
nationwide big-gun squads would play in
separate local Geo teams in the geo tour,
and would then form into a big-gun squad
for the Nationals. This would be a good thing
for Geo ultimate, without sacrificing the ambitions
of the best players to play in top teams.
The Summer season would be a natural time to
hold a series of WOMENS TOURNAMENTS too.
===========================
Just in case it wasn't clear, the Geo-tours would be organised
in (say) four regions (SE,SW,Midlands,Scotland, or whatever).
Hope this idea helps
