My suggestion would be to have no connection at all between the
Geo tour and the National tour, so as to encourage top players
to put their weight into their Geo team for part of the year.
Some teams (eg Red, and other geo-squads) might remain the same,
but I'd certainly expect a load of reforming of teams.

[Of course, it would be a blast to have a tournament with the top 4 from
each region fighting it out for the "top Geo-team" trophy; we should do
that, at the end of the Geo-tour.]

players being free and then lost them for the second half
of the season?

Teams like that would have other tournaments organised for them,
and would [I hope] organise tournaments themselves too. They could
participate in a National or Geo "B" league. They could go to
open tournaments like Ross-on-Wet.
