Dirk, good points all, but please consider also:

1) greed is the real villain - the abuser of a >10K yr old evolving trade
system (aimed at rewards for goods/deeds),
2) bad calls already happen - at all except the, er, least intense levels,
again this could be ego related,
3) how to raise the profile of Ultimate with an aim to involve more people.

I've had the good fortune to live near the Mohawks for a few years now -
you're right of course, they also demonstrate that Ultimate was, is and
always will be, all good.

Have a good1 2,

Ben

Ps: I've never played unreal Ultimate for an unreal team - it soundz like
fun - where can I play and how much is it? oh- it's 3? Wikkid - c u there!
;-)

Just a comment on your rant, MB:
"how about some prize money for the tour and/or nationals in 2002 and see
what that could do by way of Sponsorship-Publicity (also a good way of
getting a bit of extra money to top players/teams who would be taking GB
Ultimate abroad)"
Don't you think that SOTG will be at a loss once players start getting paid?
Money is by far (at least from my point of view) the strongest corruption
agent in society.. it is very easy for players to make bad calls, contest,
argue, etc. if both teams know that the winner of the match is up for a
money prize.
Competition is good and healthy, but it's not the main reason why people
play Ultimate - or any sport, for that matter. Please raise your voice
against this if I'm wrong, but I think everyone plays for fun first.
When players enter the pitch with this priority in mind, that's when they
experience the sport at its prime.. real Ultimate.

PS: Cheers for Mohawks, for showing what Ultimate is all about at student
nationals - never had I seen a team play Ultimate as they did. That's a real
team...
