from my experience, i work for social services, once you are asked for the checks you have to comply. To be honest is it such a bad a thing that people who are about to work with young children have to be checked?
Also the younger you are the quicker your check will go through. When i started my job mine came through in weeks.
So get the relevant forms and get them filled in.

UWE are currently trying to host a one day Bristol schools tournament Sunday the 13th of July. We have a venue etc but we have encountered the issue of getting everyone involved in the organisation of the event checked for criminal records. Does anyone know a way round this or a fast track method. We have three PGCE students on the team who've been checked out so does that mean the rest of us need checking out (not that we have records - far too good for that).
