Following in the foot steps of the guys from the East Midlands we down here in the dark of the South West are trying to get together a New Geo-based Open Division team.
The aim is to create a competitive squad from the talent and potential in the avaliable and so us non-student can train outside of term time. This is an opportunity for those who are already experienced to play on a larger more competitive squad and for ambitious less experienced players to learn from a quality (?) coaching team. The team will exist alongside all the established teams down this way rather than poaching players (which I have made quite a skill of!!) hopefully coaching, supporting and encouraging the local teams is the best way to improve the long-term prospects for this new team. An poaching the Midalnds idea we going to hold a Mini Hat tournament to kick it all off. This will be held on either Wednesday 5th November from 12pm to 4pm, or Saturday the 8th or Sunday 9th November in Plymouth. Then hopefully do a similar event about 2 weeks after in Exeter to help the geo training grow. We're hoping to have as big a turn-out as possible. This event will be a friendly get-together, which is completely open to all there will be no player selection or beauty pageant taking place! We will announce the location of this Tournament in the next 7 days. Thereafter, there will be coached training sessions twice a month, on in Plymouth, one in Exeter not sure which day it will be held on but that something we can work on. By the time we get to February we're going to be looking to select a squad(s) for the 2004 Open Tour. Hopefully before that we can put some sort of team into Bristol Winter League, who knows even start are own mini-one if there is enough interest!!! (I know I'm just dreaming now) Again all players from the South West are more than welcome to come along, as well as players from further away willing to make the commitment to frequent training sessions. Would you like know more? Email us wed love to hear from you, and after a while we promise to stop huging you. Cheers for reading, Jam ===== DHB #7 Geo is the way forward. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo!
