There's nothing like some Clapham nonsense to get me to comment. ;) The way infringements in Ultimate are resolved is to reinitiate play in a way as close to what would have happened if the infringement had not occured. It is each players responsibility to ensure the game is played in this manner, by upholding the Spirit of the Game. Each player should be confident that their team support them to make the right call, even if that is 'against' the team, because it is more important that the overarching SoG is adhered to. There is acceptance these days at the top of the game, that accidental/incidental contact occurs, and therefore (quite rightly) a call should not be made every time there is contact. HOWEVER, this does not mean that its acceptable to push/bump/jump into/etc because the end result is no different to when it happens accidentally. This is against SoG. Similarly, players who frequently 'foul' the opposition should alter the way they play - that is SoG. Some of Clapham's training ideas are good. Players should make calls in training, and learn how to resolve them through discussion with the other player(s). Frequently sending the disc back is something we should be working against, and would happen less often if teams were more supportive of individuals making the right call (and individuals were better at resolvign disputes). Tour 0 was the worst Clapham have ever played (or so I heard), so perhaps their training methods are somewhat counter productive. Its always frustrating when things don't go your way!
