All, The nomination stage of the 2004 UKUA Awards starts now, and will close in just over four weeks time at midnight Friday, 13 August. By holding a nomination stage before the final voting, we hope to ensure that all candidates are given sufficient publicity before the result is decided. If you've made your nomination, wouldn't it make sense to provide some public testimonial as to why they deserve an award? Having talked to several of last years LookFly Player of the Year winners and runners-up, they felt that the value of the award would have been increased under this system as it ensures a greater percentage of the voting population are informed about those in the running.
So, if you have een inspired by someone's performances on the pitch this year, or watched someone play some awesome, yet spirited Ultimate, you should consider emailing this address [EMAIL PROTECTED] to nominate them. Ideally, you should include a short [100-200 words] player profile and a photo/link to a public domain photo. For the LookFly Player of the year awards, you can nominate people in the following categories. * Player of the Year: Male * Player of the Year: Female * Player of the Year: Junior Male * Player of the Year: Junior Female * Player of the Year: Student Male * Player of the Year: Student Female Similarly, if you know a team that always plays with outstanding spirit or have been to a tournament that you will never forget, you should nominate them, again including a short profile and perhaps the team or tournament logo. The Jump + Reach Spirit & Tournament Awards are presented for * Best Tournament of the year. * Most Spirited Team of the year. Finally, if you think someone is worthy of a Special Achievement award, if you know someone who deserves recognition for dedication to the Ultimate community, someone you think has worked really hard to start a new team, or given up way too much of their free time to coach, a more lengthy testimonial to this address will give us the opportunity to consider them. Player profiles will be published on the UKUA site, as will the full timeline for the awards process, but here's a reminder: Nominations open: Now! This being the first year of the dinner, we will be taking the opportunity to present last year's LookFly and Jump + Reach awards alongside this year's.
