Hi, After B Tour 1, I have a few comments which reflect my opinions/ideas and focus on the B Tour. If it matters, I played with Flyght Club 2 and we finished in the bottom section. We didn't feel our seeding was wrong, but we did notice some teams were poorly seeded compared with the final results.
1. Positives It was great to play 90minute games again, and I really appreciated this. The pitches that I played on were good. On a personal note, I had a great time playing with Flyght - so thanks very much. 2. How did the schedule reflect an 'an open format'? I hope that I have a reasonable understanding of tournament formats (I'm sure I'll be told if I haven't). I think that an open format requires every team a chance to win the tournament. How fair this appears, will depend on how accurate the original seedings were. Having no crossovers would suggest that the original seedings were deemed to be accurate. However, if you compare the results with the seeding, I would suggest that it would have been better to add some crossover games. 3. Isn't it time to think again about the seeding for BTour 1? Seeding is notoriously difficult at the best of times, but to rely on the results from the nationals tournament, many months before, doesn't seem sensible. As far as I was aware, one reason why the 4th Tour was dropped because the top teams didn't benefit from it, but I think that B Tour teams would and did benefit. Someone recently suggested to me that there should be a Tour 0 where the ranking for the main B Tour events would be played for. This would allow extra play for the B Tour teams, and also provide more accurate seedings for B Tour1. I think that this is a helpful idea and would continue to give teams from both divisions the amount of play that they desire. This isn't a suggestion of one size fits all, but an idea to better reflect the different interests of A&B Tours. 4. Every team needs some kind of break Playing at B Tour 1, I had 2 90minute games on the Saturday, starting at 1:45, second game at 6:15. On the Sunday however, I got 5 45minute games in a row! While there may be some explanation due to Mustard dropping out on Friday, I feel that more could have been done to alleviate this problem for the teams left in the tournament. I would be interested in hearing your comments on B Tour showers, B Tour camping, or communication with the B Tour TD. My impression was that these were below expectations, but don't have first-hand experience to make any further comment. Possum ----- Fight back spam!
