Ummmm...the UK is sending 6 Mixed teams to worlds, 3 Open, and 2 Womens. I'm not sure how that fact translates into the "fact" that is quoted below.

The fact remains that Open & Women's is still the primary focus for the vast majority of players in the country, demonstrated by (I'm assuming) the fact that most Mixed players still put the greater emphasis on training with their respective Open & Women's teams, even while the Mixed season is in full swing.

As the captain of a Mixed team that existed largely due to the split season, I think there needs to be some sort of split, but perhaps an overlap. Obviously, it's difficult to lengthen the season, but perhaps a March start with some sort of Regional structure would be the way forward for UK tours?
