Google maps & earth are indeed great (although not as detailed as
Microsoft's http://local.live.com for the UK), which is why we're
making use of it for the upcoming Regional Ladder League Teams Map -
linked from the http://www.regionalultimate.co.uk/ website.

The team registration form is in testing stages so should be online
very soon - by entering the address of where you practice, your team
will automatically be added to the map with a colour to indicate
whether you are Club/Uni/Womens/Junior, visible to anyone who browses
the site!

Thanks to Steve G & Mike Tonge for their amazing & relentless work on
this feature.

I don't know about anyone else but I personally think Google Earth is the
greatest thing on this 'ere interweb.

Combining it with Ultimate, I got to thinking that it could be a great aid
with navigation to tournaments or checking out the location before arrival.
Tournament organisers could upload a particular placemark (the pitches, the
campsite, the closest supermarket etc) and send it out with information
packs.
I'm sure there's more.

I recently found the Google Earth Communities forum and have made a start
(not sleeping well at the moment!).
Perhaps others will see the 'way' and continue (what some consider) my
greatest work.

Go here (but excuse the somewhat amateur-ness of the wording - I hoped to be
able to change it at a later date but it seems I can't!):
