Hey folks,

More activity and more website developments have been happening in
recent weeks - there are now 35 teams actively playing games, 83 teams
registered & displayed on the Teams Map, and 49 matches have been
played & recorded in the Results section.
Scotland has seen its first fixture, as 2005/6 Uni Open & Mixed
Champions Ro Sham Bo defeated Salt n Sauce 15-12.
In the North, Chuft had a convincing win over junior team Catch Those
(Open), and Steal Mixed's games in preparation for Worlds have put
them up into second place, but LeedsLeedsLeeds top the Northern table
after two very convincing Worlds warm-up victories in Sheffield.
In the Midlands EMu are showing similar form at the top, but hot on
their heels are kamaya maya, who are showing much enthusiasm and I
wouldn't be surprised to see them top the Midlands table soon.
Demons, UTB, EMO, Mustard, Jesters and Warwick are also on the board
with one or two games played, but need to get a couple more good
results to be pushing for 1st place - East Midlands Ladder League
event, anyone?
Bristol are the only active Western LL team as they warm up for
Worlds, but the South-East is where it's all happening at the moment -
Iceni and Thundering Herd are still going mad for it at the top of the
SE table (& the national table), Herd having played an impressive 10
games and Iceni with 7 to their name. Ltd Release are 3rd (though I'm
pretty sure they're supposed to be in the Western region, I'll sort
that out...), and Curve and Galahs are both in the top six, showing
what can be achieved if you're willing to put your team out there and
play games on a regular basis - both have one win on the board.

In the National University table, last years SE Regional runners-up
(and the winners of the first LL season two years ago) Brunel are at
the top with 3:0 wins and +20 points difference, followed closely by
Surrey Scorpions, and last year's LL National Champions the Mohawks.
Making a surprise appearance at #4 are Chichester Ultimate, a new team
showing a lot of promise - they're hosting their own event in a few
weeks, which will no doubt improve their position, get their second
team on the board, and do wonders for the growth of the sport at their
university!

-"Damn, looks like our team has missed out on LL this year - the Herd
are unstoppable!"

Actually, the way the league works means that you can vault yourself
right into the thick of things by playing teams who have loads of
points already and proving you deserve to be up there with them.
Conveniently, the teams with loads of points are the ones who are the
most active, and therefore the most likely to accept a challenge!
For example, if you beat the top three teams 15-3 as they are
(Herd-978, Iceni-843, Leeds-791), then you'll instantly be #2 in the
National table with 947 points (Herd-1001, Iceni-872, Leeds-823).

-"We don't get a chance, there are no fixtures arranged near us"

Organise your own! All you need is space to play and teams to play
against, so send an email out to BD and/or your regional mailing list
and invite teams to come and play against you at your normal
practice/training session. If nobody shows up - no loss! Thundering
Herd went all the way up to Sheffield for a couple of games last
weekend, so you'll be surprised at how willing people are to travel to
play.

-"We'll just wait for the Winter League"

Sure, the Winter League games will earn you some Ladder League points,
but they're 7 weeks away, so why not get to know your opposition a
little better & earn some bonus points beforehand?

Enjoy,
