Apologies if i'm incorrect with this statement but the issue of contention is because players are not being allowed to play for their nearest university if their own doesn't have a team, which as stated in the uni rules (prior to BUPA recognition) was allowed (albeit to a lesser extent since Rich introduced the limit to numbers in national comps a couple of years back).
So shouldn't all your efforts be put towards sorting out how to establish teams in these uni's instead of whinging about BUSA recognition - which the powers that be have been trying to get for years?! One thing I think would really help would be for all the regional and national coordinators in the uni scene and the UKUDev team to sit down together to create a central resource on information (booklet but preferably website based) which universities/players can use to set up a new team. Things it should include are: Advice on attracting players/advertising Advice on Sponsorship How to run a training session with 50+ players Advice on coaching beginners How to deal with the AU and get support from them etc etc This is the next logical step to the uni guide on the UKU website: http://www.ukultimate.com/uniultimate/survival.aspx which was aimed at the individual. By creating this new guide it would allow a keen player without much knowledge to set up a thriving team - eventually meaning every uni has a team and therefore you can shut up complaining about BUSA.... Anyway just an idea - feel free to discuss it on the UNI EGROUP __________________________________________________ BritDisc mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.ranulf.net/mailman/listinfo/britdisc Staying informed - http://www.ukultimate.com/informed.asp
