Yo, Here's a few thoughts from me (and perhaps even my club) on the current state of the mixed tour.
1) Trying to re-schedule a UKU event this late is a bad idea. Clashing with a non-UKU event is clearly not fair / mutually bad, and squeezing in an extra weekend will be hard for people to fit into their "life schedules". There's a fair chance that we wouldn't be able to send any teams to an event on the dates proposed (first half june) 2) Nationals/ tour 3. Tough one this - I think we'll get our money's worth out of the UKU peeps' brain time on it. It's prolly worth considering the fact that there are some players (at least 2 for us) who could only make the old tour 2 date, and hence will not be allowed to play nationals according to the current rules. This seems a little unfair - and could be got around by allowing 1/2 guests to nationals. 3) I'm pretty sure that DJ ain't the only player in the UK who wouldn't want to play 5 weekends in a row (not just because of his "puny" bodily attributes). If there aren't enough wekeends in the year for sensible scheduling of events then perhaps its time to cut down on the amount of "compulsary" tournaments. More ranting on this laters. I apologise for the lack of swearing in this email to those who were expecting more - check my next one.
