I said I would so hear it is:
This is my whole-hearted apology to Thac and Taz. I now have it on reliable
information that the scheduling decisions were those of the Mixed Committee
rather than that of the TDs. I'm sorry if any offence was taken, I was
wrong.
For the record, I really enjoyed MT1 and had more fun there than I have at a
tournament for a long time (did miss access to the skittle alley on Saturday
night though) and I look forward to many more Tours in Cardiff.

My concerns about the schedule do still stand though. What is the point of
having a scheduling committee if you aren't going to use it? Surely one of
it's fundamental purposes should be to ensure that the important events have
satisfactory scheduling?

I'm finished now.

I'm not really sure how the Indoor Nationals situation fits into an

I'd just like to point out that the teams that broke the rules were
discovered and the penalties that were handed to them were excepted (some
more graciously than others). I think that the UKUA and whoever run Indoor
Regionals/Nationals in future will have learnt from the event this year and
we should take more positives from the way that the other teams behaved than
how the few did.
The scheduling concerns have been raised and changes have been made for
next year. We're a growing sport which we all love and want to play.
Mistakes will be made and one of the biggest strengths of UK Ultimate is
that we seem to quickly learn from these mistakes/unfortunate events and
they very rarely repeat themselves.
(On an aside, I'd like to mention that the majority of issues from Indoor
Nationals were more than satisfactorily dealt with, with only two situations
remaining and one of those in the process of being rectified. I'd like to
again offer my sincere thanks on behalf of myself and FlyghtClub to the UKUA
and it's members for their ongoing support in these matters).

Another point that I'd like to bring up that is more on the subject
everyone has been talking about occurred at MT1.
A simple modification to any schedule that, I believe, can only benefit
the development of the game is to put lower ranking games on pitches
near/next to higher ranking games.
At MT1, the bottom 6 were isolated on the furthest pitches from the
pavilion for the entire weekend. It wouldn't take much to switch a few
pitches round and make the lower ranked teams feel a little less like second
class citizens.

Also, people seemed happy with the schedule at the top end but I'm not
sure how a team can lose 1 game all weekend and, in a fair schedule, finish
27th? I think there was probably a potential round of cross-overs that were,
for some reason, missed out. I heard disturbing rumours that there is a UKUA
scheduling committee and that these people were not consulted by the TDs for
MT1.
If this is not the case and, I emphasise, it is only hearsay, then I fully
and whole-heartedly apologise but it still grates a little that we finished
so low despite performing much better than we expected to.

As ever, my views and not, necessarily, those of my team (at least on the
points related to Mixed Tour).

Oh - I forgot the fiasco (sorry oscar to bring this up again!) of indoor
