Thank you all for bearing with us during the rain on Saturday, and
thanks for all the positive feedback.
Any suggestions on how we could improve the tournament will be
gratefully received - many people mentioned the weather on Saturday,
so we put a lot of effort into this.. and did manage to get the rain
to hold off on Sunday.
Below are the results.
The numbers in brackets are the number of spirit votes each team
received. We have published these as we believe that SOTG is
something every team should be aware of and proud/ashamed. (We asked
every team to vote 1st,2nd,3rd, and then awarded 3 points, 2 points,
1 point. Not all teams handed their votes in, notably in the B tour,
which is very harsh on the teams they played).
[opinionated subjective ramble] I do think that some teams might have
particular rivalries that will mean they don't vote for each other on
principle, no matter how spirited they were at this particular event,
and different people judge spirit in different ways - but none the
less, if you have a bad result this is clearly something you need to
think about; maybe you should be playing a different sport? Often
it's one or two people who give their whole team a bad name - it's
clearly up to these teams to put pressure on those individuals.
It's also possible that awarding each team you play marks out of 10
would be a fairer way of doing it, as every team you play could have
been good/bad. Maybe next time... [end of ramble]
