I don't usually post to BD -- being satisfied in the pleasure of knowing
that a pitch water debate could kick off at any minute without my help.

However, in this case, I'll second Phill's comment about rubbish because I
think it's important to the reputation of the sport. It was very bad at
Mansfield. It's depressing to look across the empty pitches and see rubbish
everywhere. (Not being holier than thou, but our team did clear our sideline
after our last games even if it wasn't our junk--until we ran out of our own
bin bags. But even once everything was tidied into bin bags and discarded
tesco carriers, there was no clear place to leave the rubbish except the
sideline or the few overflowing bins near the pavillions, as there were no
bins on the pitches.)

I think at some of the Tours, TDs have handed out bin bags with the
captain's packs or there have been strategically located rubbish bins near
the pitches. Making it easy for people to do the right thing is usually more
effective than a lecture...

Cheers,
Derek
