I found an excellently detailed (real) joint file, but cannot share it or the 
geometry that goes with it.  With that, I was able to create a simpler example, 
however, that should at least parse correctly and help understand what the 
files look like.  See attached.

As can be seen, it is a rather powerful articulation system and should be 
documented.  If you happen to make a real example and get it working for your 
testing purposes, do share.  That would make a great addition to the repository 
and would get that feature a step closer towards being useful to non-developers.
