GCI Mentors, Now that many participants are entering their winter break and holiday season, activity is picking back up again and mentor activity is slowing down. Your help responding to task comments and tasks needing review is greatly needed! Thank you all for the fantastic efforts; they certainly haven't gone unnoticed! I think we have about four or five people doing most of the work, though. We need everyone to help spread the workload around.
I had been keeping up with most of the tasks needing review, but I'm seeing many tasks get to review with questions asked and nobody responding. This is causing me to have to kick back many tasks repeatedly during review which is frustrating to the participant and time consuming, causing a backlog. Most of the questions are very basic... Note that design tasks are the most active ones, which pretty much anyone can review and critique. Please take the time to not just assign tasks, but respond to comments and provide feedback. I'm not sure if there's an easy way to figure out which Assigned tasks need attention other than to quickly browse them all or tracking e-mail notifications (which is what I do). Also, please don't hesitate to review tasks awaiting review. Over the remaining two weeks, mentors, please respond to at least one NeedsReview task or comment inquiry every day. If anyone would rather do the round-robin assignment like we did last year, I can set that up as well (things seemed to be going well until recently, so I hadn't bothered). Just speak up. Remember that we'll only get out of GCI what we put into it. Right now, we've accomplished roughly 25% more than last year. Let's see if we can get that number to 100%. ;) Cheers!
