Not to bust your bubble, but BRL-CAD already has two very generalized
polyhedron primitives. Our ARB4 and ARBN (with four planes) will make a
tetrahedron. See

We're still in the process of updating our projects ideas page, so do check
back in a couple days too. If you're interested in working with primitives,
there are other new object types mentioned in our TODO file and
http://brlcad.org/~sean/ideas.html that would be useful to have, some more than
others.

Welcome is most definitely in order! Open source is all about community and
communication, so just keep talking. :) Learn as much as you can, read a lot
(self-guided learning is highly valued), and ask good questions when you
honestly get stuck. I presume you're interested in GSoC, so hopefully we can
find a project suited to your interests and ability level.
