Hi,
Many of you already know me but I will take this opportunity to
introduce myself again in context of GSOC. I am Inderpreet Singh
Ishwerdas, I have been in this community for more than a year now.
Thanks to all, you all have been very open to Ideas and helpful. I
mostly tried to help the community with web stuff and also somewhat in
GCI. I am a freelance web developer so I deal mostly with web based
technologies like HTML, CSS, Javascript. On the backend I have worked
in PHP, Python and C++ (using webtoolkit.eu). I also have worked
somewhat on FELT (A finite element analysis software). I am
interested in OGV, Online Geometry Viewer as my project. I have been
interested in it for long. I took active part in discussions that took
place regarding OGV. I also introduced OGV to mediawiki mailing list,
took their Ideas, and feature requests. I don't have any previous CAD
development experience, I have a little experience with Finite Element
Analysis Package named FElt though. In Ideas page, OGV is divided into
two modules, front end and back end. Front End consists of UI/UX and
mostly design part and Back-End consists of pretty much everything
else. I think it would be better if we divide OGV into "Rendering
Module" and "Infrastructure Module". Where Rendering Part consists of
Three.js, Model Display / Edit? specific things and the UI/UX part,
whereas Infrastructure part consists of node.js and rest of the stuff.
Now this separation will be helpful when we are going to make
mediawiki extension of OGV, as we can then use Rendering Module with
infrastructure of Mediawiki. I just wanted to know about your views on
it.
