How do folks feel about participating in GCI again this year? We need at least six people willing to mentor. At least six that will voice commitment to reviewing and responding to GCI activity within a 12 hour timeframe, approximately an hour a day at least one day a week.
The deadline to apply is Monday, so I need responses immediately (before Monday). If you’re not reading this e-mail until after the weekend, you can still become a mentor. Either way, please send me a quick e-mail and how many “hours” you are willing to offer for responding to GCI comments and submissions. Qualification for being a GCI mentor is lower than that for GSoC. Commit access is nice but not required, you just need broad familiarity or adeptness at figuring out how to help them. You need to be able to answer questions, to review their work, and to provide feedback on a variety of tasks. The participants are very young, so the guidance is usually simple. If you want to be a mentor, please 1) send me an e-mail now and then 2) read and update http://brlcad.org/wiki/Deuces to remove completed tasks and add more. We need a lot more (each mentor needs to add at least 10). Cheers!
