Please guide me for further step. Let me caveat my response by saying that this reply is NOT meant to be offensive at all but I realize it IS critical. My hope is that as a community, we learn how to be receptive of new contributors without consuming the time and resources of existing contributors unnecessarily. If anyone can think of a better way of saying this, please let me know as this issue comes up often. My apologies to Hitesh as the intent is definitely not to single you out, but to respond to this type of open-ended request in a way that helps our entire community. That said, here’s the critical reply: The intentions are obviously good, but asking to be guided is not a helpful way to contribute to an open source community (ever). Requests for help need to be as specific as possible, not open-ended. With that said, there are many possibilities. If you really do have to be guided after being presented all of the information necessary for contributing, then either the task description is lacking, your skills are lacking, or there is misunderstanding how to contribute to an open source project. Please express much more specifically what it is you would like to do and what is preventing you from working towards that goal unassisted. Or ask a specific question. Especially for GCI mentors, we all need to be cooperatively AND independently productive. Moreover, the Deuces tasks need to be fully-descriptive. If the task needs more information, figure out what is missing and then improve the task description yourself. If you read and it’s clear, then guidance is not needed, only action is needed. That all said ... we have a Wordpress theme from last year (several actually) and are busy trying to get our web infrastructure set up in time before GCI begins. Instead of working on a theme, you could contribute by importing our existing image gallery into a local Wordpress you set up. Demo it working. Once you have it working, you can write up a list of setup/import instructions that result in a better-looking image gallery interface for the new site. Sound reasonable? If there are others that are willing and interested in contributing, please (re-?)read my prior message about what all we need to do before GCI begins (in two weeks). I don’t think a single person has looked at a patch yet, for example, so there’s another place anyone can really help us get set up. Cheers!
