Hello Sean,

I have been trying to read up different license policy but
I have not yet been able to figure out which could be supported by
BRL-CAD. I have been looking at libx3d and freewrl which are both GNU
Lesser Public License and also Coin3D which is BSD 3-clause license.I
am really familiar with freewrl but I could not get much help from
their mailing list as they instead gave me directives to check on
other softwares while I wanted to use it for the vrml-g converter.
Openvrml just has support for vrml-encoded-x3d and not x3d-xml. I
would really be grateful to get pointers to some license compatible
library with good support for x3d.
I strongly believe that if I am giving the chance to develop
a custom importer for BRL-CAD I would make it as robust as possible
but I would first ensure that I conforms to the web3d standards and
BRL-CAD coding standard then add support for primitives and polygons
before moving to other representation like nurbs even after the GSoC
period. Having worked with other libraries I have some understanding
of how the parsing is done and can actually develop a solid parser,
including the xml parsing.

Thanks
Konrad
