What kind of patches can I submit? I am new to the overall code of
BRL-CAD yet. And don't know where to start and what issues to look
for. Please help me get started for the same.

Patches can be for anything, but ideally have some relation to the code and
project you are proposing.  It's assumed that you will be able to write code to
the technical complexity that you proposed.  You need to be able to demonstrate
your ability to read and modify existing code.

This includes demonstrating you can navigate large complex codes like BRL-CAD,
STEPcode, FreeCAD, etc, and make some improvement without needing too much
assistance.  I suggest you start by looking at TODO and other documentation
files (e.g., BUGS), reproducing a reported bug and fixing it, or stubbing in
the beginnings of your project in all the right places.

As the application deadline has passed, you do not have much time remaining.
Reviews will likely be complete within a few days.  A good patch is nominally a
full day of effort, and not counting setup time.

If there's not a patch by the time an application is reviewed, it will not
receive consideration this year.  No exceptions.  We also won't tell people
when that review happens as everyone must find out their selection status
(positive or negative) from Google directly, so don't ask.  Best of luck to
everyone and thank you for your efforts.

Cheers!

Sean
