The *.exe is proprietary, that's true, but it may give you some ideas for your own work. And we can talk about how it works, e.g. it is build upon Qt. The *.dll is part of the BRL-CAD project (http://brlcad.org/wiki/BRL-CAD's_core_C%2B%2B_interface, brlcad/misc/win32-msvc/Dll), and I succeeded building similar libraries for Linux an OS X.
