Hi All,

Release 7.26.0 source tarballs are finally posted! Help needed. As this is a
full release, and a really big one at that — probably our biggest to date — we
need binaries for the following:

Linux
Windows
Mac OS X
BSD

For Linux, it would be good to have .deb (debian/ubuntu) and .rpm (fedora,
rhel, opensuse). For the rest, a single 64-bit option should suffice, but
others welcome. Just grab sources, compile, and upload if you have commit
(instructions in HACKING) or point me at the installer and I’ll upload.

I’m holding off on our news announcement until we get at least one upload for
each of the major platforms.

Path forward
==========

We’ve had a lot of important work get stalled because of this release, but
focus will quickly shift once it’s over. If anyone wants to take on a project,
here are specific initiatives that need a leader (in no particular order):

A) buildbot CI setup
B) source code style automation
C) docbook doc publishing
D) GCI task processing
E) patch processing
F) archer beta deployment
G) command reduction mapping

Any takers?

Last but not least, I propose we change our historic /usr/brlcad default to
/opt/brlcad in order to conform with the FHS, improve installation on Mac
(where /usr is now forcibly read-only), and reduce system conflicts. This will
allow us to retain moderate compatibility with our legacy users. Note that
this does not necessarily apply to package management systems, which may still
aim for a /usr or /usr/local integrated installation.

Cheers!
Sean
