That was the intent, but things fell apart last minute.  I got nearly 
everything installed into the VM but then ran into a critical problem with that 
version of the compiler (was using the latest Fedora).  It was segfaulting 
during linking due to some lto bug.  Time was up and other preparations had to 
be made, so I had to abort / defer.

Need to try setting up a different distro.  Mint and very latest Fedora were a 
bust.
