Hi,
Sean has left the following comment at Write a "BRL-CAD Commands Quick
Reference" document

more work needed
Don't worry about the mged commands (quit, etc) nor referencing the cheet
sheet. That isn't useful to repeat here and there's so much more we hope to
explain.
You have a BIG uphill battle because you're (understandably) not familiar
with BRL-CAD and it sounds like you're only minimally familiar with using a
linux/unix command line and probably haven't designed a quick reference
document before to boot! We'll try to take things one step at a time and
focus on the content first.
The asterisks represent entire sets of commands -- those are globbing
characters. As the description says, BRL-CAD contains over 400 commands. If
you look in the bin/ directory of an install, there are a couple dozen
commands that are named "g-something" (eg, g-obj). Those are all converters
from our BRL-CAD .g geometry file format to other formats (eg, the
Wavefront .obj object file format).
For the quick reference sheet, that already raises the question about
whether to list all of them, or to explain the general format of geometry
importers / exporters and itemize the formats. Since they pair together,
that could even be in a table format so it's clear where we have import or
export support or both.
The commands listed above represent more than half of our 400 commands, not
just the 10 you understood... :)
I suggest continuing like you've started and itemize the commands listed
until you start to see patterns. Find ways to organize the 235+ commands
logically together into groups based on what they do. Keep tabs on how long
it takes you and we'll see where to go from there.
Submit all the commands grouped together into logically related sets.
If that looks good, then we can start thinking about command-sheet layout.
Greetings,
The Google Open Source Programs Team
