Sorry, I can't find spare time in the past year to create this tutorial.
In the secondary school (where I'm a teacher) I tried out the FreeCAD
with my pupils. It's not so good so far and hasn't such rendering
capability as BRL-CAD has. However, BRL-CAD is not for this age-group
too.
Pál,
An interesting observation... I've actually used BRL-CAD with secondary school students on a number of occasions over the years and have had a different experience. Since they've never seen a commercial CAD package, they're able to learn our interface much more quickly and easily without preconceptions. Especially for teaching basic modeling concepts, I didn't think we were doing that bad even with our learning curve.
Can you think of a specific way we can improve? Do you think a shorter tutorial would be most helpful?
Our participation in the GCI program would also seem to indicate it's at least possible. Those 13-17 year old students did a truly fantastic job making models, documentation, and even code modifications. They just need to be told where to go and have an example/tutorial to follow. We have a backlog of work there to integrate which we'll be back on after our upcoming release is posted!
Cheers!
Sean
