It's detecting it but then failing. I think I know why but would like to verify. Could you please send me a copy of your /sys/kernel/debug/usb/devices while the Orbit Reader 40 is connected? It looks to me like the emulation isn't precise in two ways. The first is that the product string says that it's an "Orbit Reader 40" (not surprising, but also not emulating a Vario Ultra). Both include essentially no Bluetooth debugging data. It may be that you haven't paired it.
