Do you have a Linux system to see if brltty recognizes it there? Currently I only run Linux in WSL (Windows System for Linux) and I'm not sure if I can assign a USB port to that. What are the vendor and product identifiers of the Mantis? Below is the handshake when the Mantis is connected. I think the information you ask is in the first line: ==== cut here ==== 10-30 18:37:10.716 1000 1661 2128 D UsbHostManager: Added device UsbDevice[mName=/dev/bus/usb/001/002,mVendorId=7281,mProductId=49425,mClass= 0,mSubclass=0,mProtocol=0,mManufacturerName=,mProductName=APH Mantis Q40,mVersion=4.14,mSerialNumberReader=com.android.server.usb.UsbSerialReader @2b847ea, mHasAudioPlayback=false, mHasAudioCapture=false, mHasMidi=false, mHasVideoCapture=false, mHasVideoPlayback=false, mConfigurations=[ 10-30 18:37:10.716 1000 1661 2128 D UsbHostManager: UsbConfiguration[mId=1,mName=,mAttributes=128,mMaxPower=1,mInterfaces=[ 10-30 18:37:10.716 1000 1661 2128 D UsbHostManager: UsbInterface[mId=0,mAlternateSetting=0,mName=HID Interface,mClass=3,mSubclass=0,mProtocol=0,mEndpoints=[ 10-30 18:37:10.716 1000 1661 2128 D UsbHostManager: UsbEndpoint[mAddress=129,mAttributes=3,mMaxPacketSize=8,mInterval=4] 10-30 18:37:10.716 1000 1661 2128 D UsbHostManager: UsbEndpoint[mAddress=2,mAttributes=3,mMaxPacketSize=8,mInterval=4]] 10-30 18:37:10.716 1000 1661 2128 D UsbHostManager: UsbInterface[mId=1,mAlternateSetting=0,mName=HID Interface,mClass=3,mSubclass=0,mProtocol=0,mEndpoints=[ 10-30 18:37:10.716 1000 1661 2128 D UsbHostManager: UsbEndpoint[mAddress=131,mAttributes=3,mMaxPacketSize=8,mInterval=4] 10-30 18:37:10.716 1000 1661 2128 D UsbHostManager: UsbEndpoint[mAddress=4,mAttributes=3,mMaxPacketSize=8,mInterval=4]] 10-30 18:37:10.716 1000 1661 2128 D UsbHostManager: UsbInterface[mId=2,mAlternateSetting=0,mName=HID Interface,mClass=3,mSubclass=1,mProtocol=1,mEndpoints=[ 10-30 18:37:10.716 1000 1661 2128 D UsbHostManager: UsbEndpoint[mAddress=133,mAttributes=3,mMaxPacketSize=8,mInterval=4] 10-30 18:37:10.716 1000 1661 2128 D UsbHostManager: UsbEndpoint[mAddress=6,mAttributes=3,mMaxPacketSize=8,mInterval=4]] 10-30 18:37:10.716 1000 1661 2128 D UsbHostManager: UsbInterface[mId=3,mAlternateSetting=0,mName=MTP,mClass=6,mSubclass=1,mProto col=1,mEndpoints=[ 10-30 18:37:10.716 1000 1661 2128 D UsbHostManager: UsbEndpoint[mAddress=135,mAttributes=2,mMaxPacketSize=512,mInterval=0] 10-30 18:37:10.716 1000 1661 2128 D UsbHostManager: UsbEndpoint[mAddress=8,mAttributes=2,mMaxPacketSize=512,mInterval=0] ==== cut here ==== >I assume brltty is still missing something that makes Android aware of >the fact that brltty is a potential USB user. I'm still wondering if you might need an OTG cable. Maybe not - and even theoretically not - but, when things don't work as expected, I wonder everything. I've been googling for a USB-C OTG cable, but can't find anything that makes sense to me. I'll try the USB connection with a focus display that has USB C as well, to see what happens there. First results weren't that good, since Android announced the Focus as an unknown audio device.....
