Utilizing the functionality of the editor has the charm that I can easily see
the regions marked, but the editor marks (Highlighting) are not reflected
into brltty and my brother cannot detect the marked region.
Brltty has a feature that underlines (dots 7 and 8) what's highlighted. You can
configure it within the Text Indicators submenu of brltty's Preferences Menu.
My settings for this, for example, look like this:

    Show Attributes: Yes
    Blinking Attributes: Yes
    Attributes Blink Period: 0.8 (seconds)
    Attributes Percent Visible: 25 (%)

I created a /etc/brltty-hw.prefs file with content:

Show Attributes: Yes
Blinking Attributes: Yes
Attributes Blink Period: 0.8
Attributes Percent Visible: 25

This file is found by brltty, but the syntax seems not to work. Here comes the debug log:

2023-01-14@17:07:45.129 [brltty] Alte Einstellungsdatei: /etc/brltty-hw.prefs 2023-01-14@17:07:45.129 [brltty] report listener registered: 0: brlapi_handleReports 2023-01-14@17:07:45.129 [brltty] loading preferences file: /etc/brltty-hw.prefs

2023-01-14@17:07:45.129 [brltty] unknown preference: Blinking

2023-01-14@17:07:45.129 [brltty] unknown preference: Attributes

Is it not possible to do the settings you mentioned via the config prefs file?

Cheers,

Volker
