I am interested in how you setup metacity. I am not on Debian, but am largely

Hello,
I think I found an article that shows how to do it, but it is using a
procedure like this.
as root or using 'sudo' enter:
apt install metacity
From a shell prompt as my ID
gsettings set org.mate.session.required-components windowmanager metacity
Then I rebooted.
It does work and seems to get rid of hung processes, although it may be
slightly less convenient than Marco because some of the key bindings
like alt-control-t to open the terminal aren't mapped by default.
You could fall back to Marco using theĀ 'gsettings' command and changing
the last argument.

I set up Debian to use Metacity, which is not difficult. If you want the
instructions, let me know, but it isn't a good long term solution.
