The plan is to release brltty-6.8 soon so that users will hopefully have it
before their system is upgraded to a 6.16 (or later) kernel. I'm hoping that
those who update brltty for the various distributions will consider this when
planning their upcoming releases.

Please, if possible, test the latest brltty development code so that we can
know, before 6.8 is released, of any possible bugs that need to be resolved.
Also, let us know if there are any last minute features that we should consider
incorporating.

The main reason why you want to already be using release 6.8 of brltty when you
start using a 6.16 (or later) kernel has to do with enhanced Unicode support.
The improved rendering of wide and zero-width characters might result in
unexpected fill characters if an older brltty release is being used. Starting
with 6.8, brltty knows to expect these characters and how to handle them.

Starting with 6.8, brltty correctly renders a large screen (i.e. one with more
than 255 columns and/or rows). If the kernel is earlier than 6.16, however,
brltty won't render the screen cursor if it's beyond column and/or row 255.

An additional feature that you get with brltty-6.8, but only if the kernel is
6.16 (or later), is that pasting automatically detects whether or not the paste
should be bracketed.
