[quoted lines by Sébastien Hinderer on 2025/05/28 at 19:58 +0200] >Isn'tit possible, though, to detect that a change is a scroll (and that >the whole line needs to be spoken) by noticing that was was previously >on the current line have moved up one line?
Not reliably. If the editor has two files open with a horizontal split then only half the line would scroll. If with a vertical split then the scroll won't necessarily happen on the first or last line. In fact, with title lines, status lines, etc, the scroll also won't necessarily happen in a predictable place. Another complication is if the line being scrolled is long and, therefore, wrapped over multiple screen lines. -- I believe the Bible to be the very Word of God: http://Mielke.cc/bible/ Dave Mielke | 2213 Fox Crescent | WebHome: http://Mielke.cc/ EMail: [email protected] | Ottawa, Ontario | Twitter: @Dave_Mielke Phone: +1 613 726 0014 | Canada K2A 1H7 | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://mielke.cc/xmother.html (Letter from a Feminist ex-Mother) _______________________________________________ This message was sent via the BRLTTY mailing list.
