My problem with token is what to do with the non-identifier characters. The 
term token imlies, at least to me, some knowledge of the current language being 
viewed.

And another question: Do we assign the part/token set to the original bindings 
(i.e. fix what became broken) or do we assign the word set to the original 
bindings (i.e. preserve what we now have and add back the lost feature)?
