I now have it up and running.
I saw that the brltty.conf was misstakenly modified by me.

That is why the configuration tool doesn't show it. Either you know how
to modify brltty.conf by hand, or you use the tool. But if you mix both,
the tool gets confused indeed. Also note the extra lines at the end of
brltty.conf. You should probably clean them to make sure you understand
the configuration you are using.
