I assume that that was using Bluetooth, then. I think I know what the problem may be. Your device probably does need the Alva driver, but the Alva driver only uses the old protocol when using serial I/O. For the new Alva protocol, you'd need to be using either USB or Bluetooth. Note that this is unique to the Alva driver - other drivers aren't like that. The normal case - where, I guess, normal means everywhere else but on Windows - is that the device would be accessed directly via Bluetooth.
