Indeed...but it is nice to have the means for customers to
implement a "workaround" while we churn out a patch (not
something that happens "overnight".)
Being able to tinker with this, to me, seems similar to
tinkering with speed/duplex. Sometimes it is necessary
(or helps), but most of the time it isn't.
