with the ubiquity of IPv4 in the past, de facto cycle is long unless
we discard IPv4 de jure. Its like twisted pair replacement by fiber in
access networks.

We have not talked much of 'servers' here. Ibrahim Haddad says - we
intend to give competition to 'Solaris'. That's evident with these
'servers'.

As Ashish said, BSD probably falls short of human resource w.r.t.
Linux. That may be the only reason why BSD may not be able to address
certain issues.

Its a matter of eyeballs only.

Firstly you should watch 'The Code'. Eric Allman (of sendmail) has
clearly said that FOSS movement is nothing but institutionalization of
the grand old UNIX culture (nurtured by BSD). He is also the domestic
partner of Marshall :)

As the kind of creatures they are, BSD and Linux will keep on
influencing each other. This is evolution. Solaris came out of same
evolution.

Hey guys, can we have USENIX India?
