It makes perfect sense for a Solaris certification to last forever because it's a certification for Solaris 8 or Solaris 9, which isn't going to change again (patch releases aside). However, basing a BSD certification on FooBSD X.Y doesn't seem to make sense, and it's not possible to base it on releases as OpenBSD is the only one of the four with a proven committed schedule.
