The biggie.  Brain dumps are a serious problem, agreed.

I personally favor a combined cert - Q&A and Lab.  A brain dump
will only get you part of the way- you still have to actively
complete a lab of some kind.

What kind?  Good question.  There are some thoughts in the 
archives, and I'm sure more will develop over time.
