Ralf, I can reproduce the error with the following example:
\documentclass{scrartcl}
\begin{document}
\title{}
\author{}
\date{}
\maketitle
\end{document}
Now the strange thing: When I change {scrartcl} to {article} the error
is gone (after saving an re-opening).
